Lead Pastor- Tim Jacobs
Pastor Tim is passionate about helping people understand the grace of God – especially those who have felt far away from him. Through his preaching, leadership, and conversations with skeptics and those who have given up on “religion,” he has made it his life’s purpose to tell as many people as possible the Good News of God’s grace through Jesus Christ.
In addition to being the Lead Pastor of Compass Church, Pastor Tim has traveled to Central America, Asia, and the Middle East, preaching the Gospel to any who will listen. He is also a frequent presenter at training seminars for church planting and leadership across the United States.
Pastor Tim’s real love is being a husband and father. He married the love of his life, Judi, in 1998, and they have three school-age children: Ryan, Cambria, and Madison.
Education has been a big part of his life. He received a B.S. in Business Administration from Pepperdine University in 1996, a Master of Divinity from Talbot School of Theology in 2002, and a Doctor of Ministry from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2011.
He loves running in his Vibram Five Finger shoes, riding his road bike, going to the gym with Judi, and playing guitar.
Student and Children's Ministries Pastor- Mike Szoradi
Mike's heart is for the Kingdom of God. As such, he loves proclaiming the Kingdom of God to children of all ages and then discipling them to go out and do the same. Along with working with teens for many years and LOVING every second of it, he has a Bachelors degree in Christian Ministries with a Minor in Youth Ministry from Arizona Christian University. Mike is married to his loving and supportive wife Ginger who has served alongside him in Student Ministries for many years. He and Ginger also have the privilege of being parents to their two fun and crazy kids Lexi and Isaac.
Worship Pastor- Gable Legaspi
Gable Legaspi has been involved in Worship Ministry since 1998. He has held Worship Leader positions at New Life Community Church, Phoenix Light and Life, and ACU (formerly known as Southwestern College). Gabe is also currently involved in a band known as Wouldbe Airman. Gabe studied at ACU for a Christian Ministry Degree. Gabe's passion is to help those around him to engage with their creator. He enjoys all facets of ministry whether vocational or as part of his lifestyle. He has been happily married since December of 2006, and he loves making his daughter Paislee giggle.
Heather Carroll- Director of Children’s Ministry
Heather has a real heart for her Savior and for helping others in His service. As the mother and homeschool teacher of five children, she knows how to stay organized and strives relentlessly to maintain a positive attitude. It is this positivity mixed with her can-do outlook that she hopes to carry with her as she embraces the challenge of coordinating Compass' KidQuest ministry. Along with her husband, Brian, with whom she has shared her journey since 1997, Heather's deepest desire is that her children, along with the multitude of children at Compass, all continue to grow in the Word and find themselves consumed with a passion to become servants of Christ.
Director of Operations- Susan Johnson
Susan and her family have been attending Compass since 2006, and she joined the staff in 2009. Susan has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Bethel University, with minors in Economics and French. Married since 1985, she and her husband, Scott, have two adult children, Alicia and Adam.
Susan is also involved in International Missions at Compass and has been on missions trips to Ukraine, Mexico, and India.
Executive Assistant/Event Coordinator- Gay Hudec
Gay has been on staff at Compass since 2001. She served as Kid Quest Director for over 12 years and has a degree in Early Childhood Education. Her current role covers administrative areas, including coordinating Compass events, organizing monthly classes, and serving as the Executive Assistant to Pastor Tim. In her spare time she loves cooking, gardening and traveling with her wonderful husband Nick to whom she has been married since 1993.
Linda Van Noy- Bookkeeper
Linda started attending Compass in 2000, shortly after moving to Goodyear from Colorado with her husband Charles. Charles went home to be with the Lord in 2008 after 32 great years of marriage. Linda has a Bachelor’s degree in Management and a Master’s degree in Health Administration with a minor in Accounting from the University of Colorado at Denver. Linda and Charles were part of a church plant while living in Colorado and did bookkeeping for them also. She is active in Women’s Ministries at Compass. Linda loves to take walks, golf, and do volunteer work at the Southwest Lending Closet. Her desire is to focus on developing a deeper relationship with Jesus and to finish strong!
Judi Jacobs- Database Administrator
Judi has been in the Valley since 2002. Coming out with her husband from Southern California to plant a church, Judi has seen firsthand the dynamics of a growing ministry. Every person who comes to Compass is important, which is why she is passionate about making sure each one is counted and their needs are known. While she loves her role here at Compass, her true life’s passion is her family, including her three children, Ryan, Cambria, and Madison. She’s been married to Tim since 1998. She loves going to the gym, baking all kinds of amazing stuff, and reading.
